Today's SCOTUS decision makes it crystal clear that three justices will let Trump do literally anything he wants. Screw the Constitution, the law, facts, morals, and ethics.
It should have been 9-0.

@petergleick I mean, it's a good reminder that the Supreme Court is compromised, but often enough it's more than three who vote in favor of making Trump the official dictator of America. He just really ticked them off this time I guess. I imagine one or two of the openly compromised Supreme Court justices fancy that they should be kings or something, so him challenging their power upset them.
The kicker is: #SCOTUS needs this fig leave to give an impression that they are independent of Trump. The justices don't want to defy Trump. They know U.S. trade law gives a president multiple overlapping tools to impose tariffs, so they are just asking Trump to use a better legal excuses.
In the bigger picture, this is so predictable: Americans will move on to the next social media trend in 5 min. 🤷♂️
Small wins are better than the opposite. The net eftect is that SCOTUS still punted.
@petergleick And it should have been issued months ago.
@petergleick I think the 6-3 is reputational damage control. The Biden HEROES verdict was 6-3. I think they’re very aware of the appearance of political leaning and want to indicate that they have 3 hard line leftists and 3 hard line conservatives. Of course that means that they have 3 moderates (who are clearly not moderate).
@petergleick But they said refunds would be too messy. That's just stupid. Kind of like warrants are too messy.
@petergleick - Pam won’t be happy. These tariffs are what they’ve been using to keep ICE functioning, even during the current partial shutdown.
@petergleick This is the ironclad proof that death camps are incoming, I think. If 33% of them are willing to side with state power against the unified interests of capital (frankly, against everyone's interests, but in this case this is also an unambiguous place where capital will hit back), then 66% of them are willing to allow the arbitrary cancellation of birthright citizenship, or any other form of human sacrifice. And given the intensity of the signals involved and the way the liberal justices have moved, if it isn't 6 to 3 it will probably be unanimous or with one dissent instead.
