What was that about free integrated circuits? Are you talking about open source hardware?

Free/open but also adjusted to allow affordable and nondestructive scanning for comparison against specification.

@ambiguous_yelp This is a personal experience, but I know and I am aware the Empire (And its competitors) puts backdoors into ICs since my "special" military service in 1996, were I was serving as secretary to a general involved into electronic warfare... I will never forget what he used to tell me about that, and how French military fighter back : They created their own small fab to produce their own ICs for their critical applications.
@kkarhan Yes I was aware of that one. That's where deniability comes in: on the official SimpleX client there is a hidden profile feature: to display hidden profile you type in a password you set previously but you type it into the chat search bar so there is no indication in the GUI that you have any hidden profile. I think each hidden profile can have their own associated password so you can type in a password and say there you go thats all my hidden profiles when actually there are more
