Activists from Fossil Free London disrupted a high-profile event hosted by Azerbaijan’s state-owned energy company SOCAR at a luxury London venue, protesting the company’s role in supplying oil to "Israel" during the war on Gaza.

Demonstrators gathered at the event to denounce the corporate complicity, citing reports that SOCAR provides 40% of "Israel’s" crude oil imports, including nearly 57 million barrels shipped from Turkey’s Ceyhan terminal since May 2024, despite Ankara’s stated trade restrictions.
In a post on X, Fossil Free London claimed, "Once this BP and SOCAR oil arrives to Israel, it is refined into energy products such as jet fuel and gasoline to power the Israeli assault on Gaza," urging, "We demand that SOCAR and BP stop fuelling genocide and support the calls for an energy embargo on Israel!"
