The world’s rainforests are vanishing. And it doesn’t appear to be changing. Apart from one country.

Costa Rica is the only country in the tropics where forests have regrown rather than disappeared. After suffering extreme deforestation in the late 20th century, the country reversed the trend and now has forest cover exceeding half its land area.
