The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) issued a report titled ""We Returned from Hell"" documenting the violations faced by Palestinian journalists in Israeli prisons from October 2023 to January 2026.
The committee stated that these violations are not isolated incidents but part of a systematic policy aimed at silencing Palestinian journalists and weakening their ability to report on events in Gaza and the West Bank.
The report also documented the detention of at least 94 Palestinian journalists and media workers during this period, with many still in custody. The committee called on the international community to intervene, hold Israeli authorities accountable, and ensure the protection of press freedom under international law.
