The #Lhotshampa are an ethnic Nepalese group from southern #Bhutan. They were expelled to #Nepal in the early 90s, in an #EthnicCleasing campaign. The #USA, especially #RochesterNY, has a large #community of #refugees.
The #GrossNationalHappiness index that the Bhutanese #monarchy promotes was built on the backs of Lhotshampa and Nepalese #immigrant #labor. The Lhotshampa have been ignored by the #world and denied much-needed #resettlement, #jobs, #MentalHealth, and #CulturalPreservation #aid.
