Tonite I had cold fried fish, ablo and spicy hot dja.
Ablo? see image - a mixture of corn flour, rice flour, water, yeast, salt and sugar, steamed.
Dja? the Beninese ketchup - tomatoes + tomato paste + ginger + taki (pepper) + shrimp powder, slowly cooked in oil.

@cybeardjm we call this posho. In Kenya it is ugali. But ablo is a cool name 😊

@dilmandila Not sure if it's the same texture, looking at the photos here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ugali

Looks like "Wô" the classic staple for everyday meal. (exists as black or red too, with different flours).

I do think the rice flour + yeast changes everything... ;-)

@cybeardjm Yeah. It would be a different texture, but it looks the same! We even have the same way of heating it up, wrapped in banana leaves. :-))
