My new video is up, this time covering a printer add-on for the PC Engine - please take a look, share and - if possible - hype. Thanks #RetroGaming

It's amazing what kind of add-ons and variations Japanese consoles got that we didn't really see in the west. There seems to be more of an interest in doing interesting playful things with technology, being more experimental?

@FediThing they certainly threw a lot at the wall. We had similar things in the computer market - but it tended to be mostly third parties

Weirdest thing I've ever seen from home computer scene in Europe was a 1980s joystick shaped like a tortoise 😆

Advert from 1980s showing a weird almost disturbing tortoise-shaped joystick with fire buttons along its shell and suction cups for feed, and a head poking out from under the shell. The advert text says

The Tortoise
-Three ultra sensitive fire buttons
-Ergonomically evolved control shell
-Automatic centreing
-Heavy duty body with strong stabilising suction feet
-8 directional movement
-Cage sold separately
-Versions include ZX Spectrum, C64, Amstrad, Atari, Sega and Nintendo

@FediThing in terms of joysticks the two weirdest ones I’ve had is an odd motorcycle shaped one and the Cheetah RAT - which was basically a TV remote as a controller for the Sinclair Spectrum
