This is the second day of #Ramadan in #Gaza.
The fast itself starts every day at the first light of day (and it ends at sunset). It coincides with one of the five daily prayers, Fajr. Before Fajr, we eat a morning meal called Suhoor. My family always wakes up and eats this meal all together. It鈥檚 wonderful.
Ramadan is a very communal experience. Everyone supports each other and is in a good mood.

There鈥檚 a tradition in #Palestine: volunteers called Mesaharati walk the city to wake people up, so that nobody misses Suhoor.
This morning, the local Mesaharati were very enthusiastic: they were calling out and banging their drums loudly. They woke everyone up immediately. 馃槄
