An unofficial blue plaque commemorating the life of Mary Barbour. It reads: Mary Barbour (22nd February 1875 - 2nd April 1958) Social Reformer, Rent Strike Leader, Women's Peace Crusader and Pioneering Woman Councillor. "In Govan, Mrs Barbour, a typical working class housewife, became the leader of a movement such had never been seen before. Street meetings, back court meetings, drums, bells, trumpets every method was used to bring the women out." (William Gallacher, Revolt on the Clyde, 1936) A famous image of the rent strike shows Mrs Barbour's Army and supporters demonstrating outside 10Hutton Drive, Linthouse.
