Faux #FootpathFriday
Bears Ears National Monument, UT

I stopped the truck along White Canyon Road North when I spotted this interesting sight. Flags of thin white sandstone have broken off from the rim and migrated down this shallow wash to give the appearance of stepping stones up the hillside. I didn't climb up as they looked fragile.

A hillside of heavily decomposed red sandstone with large boulders broken from a thick layer above. Just above the red layer is a thin layer of white sandstone; pieces of this have broken off and migrated down a small wash giving the appearance of a flagstone footpath. There are a few small desert shrubs and grass clumps. Blue sky.
