From two days ago, just your average winter. But like “they” say weather is always changing.
I don’t have any baseline to know to really judge these sorts of events, but they seem a little different?
Oh, so that’s the weather that caused that pile up a few days ago. Holy smokes.
@GhostOnTheHalfShell Much more intense swings in types of conditions, IMHO. i.e. if it's raining, it's extreme rain. If it's snowing, it's extreme snow. If it's windy, it's extra windy, etc. Jet stream impacts. I need to look at the 500mb anomaly charts... those usually tell the tale.
@GhostOnTheHalfShell Here we go... Monday. 500mb height anomaly -- much warmer than usual over the Four Corners. Much colder than usual in the Carolinas.

Climate communicators fell down in this area. They never talked about how the distribution of global heating wasn’t uniform.
The framing has always been that the global South was going to suffer, which is true, but the level of temperature change for those of us in the higher latitudes is catastrophic.
I think if they had said this shit’s going to absolutely wreck the global north, instead of trying to elicit sympathy they might have had a more effective argument

Sunday, Nor'Easter, possibility of 16+ inches of snow, tidal flooding, gale force winds.
I know it sucks, but the global north might’ve slightly been a little more attentive if they were told everything you care about is going to be burned to the ground and then washed away or drowned, it might’ve mattered a little.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell I don't know, humans aren't good about anything that requires contemplating a lot of time. i.e. we are mostly good about what is happening now and what happened yesterday. Why we only fund things for disasters that already happened, vs. funding things for disasters that are going to happen.
@ai6yr there is also a massive disinformation campaign from oil companies trying to muddy the water about what's going on. There's a lot of money being spent tricking people into thinking that we're not causing climate change.
