Still working through the Passeriformes, the largest of the Orders. Much to learn. Here going from the largest (Raven) to one of the smallest (Brown Creeper). The Brown Creeper is a singleton in North America. It is small (~13 cm long) and very well camouflaged, so it can be tough to see. One of our common winter birds - people celebrate the arrival of Brown Creepers As the name suggests they creep along tree trunks searching for food - creeping to the top, then flying to the base of the next tree. Wonderful to watch.

A small, well camouflaged bird with mottled brown, tan and white wings and head.  The underpants and breast are white.  The bill long and curves downward.  These creep up a tree searching for insects, then fly to the base of the next tree to start the search over. 

Brown Creeper - Certhia americana.  The only member of the Family Certhiidae, Genus Certhia in North America.  There are 9 species the Genus World wide.
