October 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the EU border guard agency Frontex. For these 20 long years it has spread death and insecurity. We count and mourn more than 60,620 deaths caused by the EU border regime since 1993. Frontex is a key actor in the war against people on the move and a symbol for its certain failure…

While in Germany and Europe, fascists are on the rise and racist policies against people on the move are being expanded every day, EU’s murderous border agency, Frontex, celebrates its violent 20 year existence this year. Frontex is the European Union’s border police force. Frontex is responsible for systematic human rights violations through its operations; involvement in deportations; cooperation with third countries, and strengthening EU borders.

20 years of Frontex means 20 years of border violence! With the support of the German government, Frontex patrols the worlds deadliest border; since 2014 at least 30,000 people have drowned in the Mediterranean

The 3rd of October alone marks the day of the death of over 360 people on the move, during a shipwreck off Lampedusa in 2013.
Its is a day to mourn and protest the deadly border regime.

It’s starting: Frontex is being deployed in Belgium

„The government had announced it, and now it’s happening: since last week, the first Frontex agents have been on duty at Zaventem airport.
The government’s goal is clear: the Minister of the Interior (Quintin, MR) and the Minister of Asylum and Migration (Van Bossuyt, N-VA) are delighted with this new collaboration. With the support of Frontex, they want to increase the number of deportations by plane.

Anyone staying illegally in Belgium must return to their country as quickly as possible. Thanks to Frontex’s intervention, we can speed up the pace of return operations.’

‚The Border Agency of the European Union, Frontex, is building a mobile application for individuals who are voluntarily or forcibly deported from Europe, as part of its EU Reintegration Programme (EURP).

The application will come equipped with an ‘AI chatbot’ feature, which allows deportees to learn about the available services within the program, such as the opening hours of the nearest return counseling centers, or the financial incentives offered to individuals who accept to travel back to their country of citizenship (given the relative lack of choice people face, some scholars prefer the term ‘self-deportation’)...‘
